Cottage Art Retreats

Women's Cottage Art Retreats - SOLD OUT for May 2017

Exact dates of next retreats to be announced.

Ages 17 to Seniors welcome.

These retreats are held at a lovely private cottage just a few minutes south of Bayfield about 1hr 15minutes North of London. (Same location for the past 2 years - we absolutely love it!)

Picture yourself at a beautiful cottage with nothing to do except paint and relax. A very large yard with mature trees to paint under, a second floor deck with lots of comfy lawn chairs, and a beautiful glassed-in kitchen dining area. In a quiet location beside a wooded ravine with farm fields behind, it's just an aaaah kind of place. Did I mention the chef? Yes! It's delightful.

Cottage Yard Painting Outdoors
You can paint out under the trees in the yard. It's a beautiful large lot with a woods beside it.
Dining Area Wonderful meals
Check out our beautiful dining area. And wonderful food from our in house chef.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Your all inclusive fee includes accommodation, painting lessons with Cheryl O, and all meals provided our in house chef!

In the evenings enjoy a bonfire, or a movie on our big screen TV, or paint more if you like. Lots of fun and laughter. It's a great deal. Don't take my word for it - simply google Bed & Breakfasts and you will see that you can pay a lot more - and that is without your art instruction, lunch, and dinner!

WHAT DO WE PAINT? The  painting theme for cottage retreats is "Painting Bold & Free"- painting techniques to help you loosen up and be more expressive with your paint. Cheryl has been teaching art to adults for 18 years and provides helpful instruction in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Beginners through advanced painters are welcome. Cheryl will bring some references (different ones each year) of her own paintings and/or famous paintngs where techniques and colour are used boldly. These will be demonstrated step by step for students. Participants are encouraged to also bring their own references, any subject, and are free to work from these as well. With a group this small (average 4 students) you get lots of individual instruction time - great for beginners through to advanced painters. Students bring their own painting supplies, your choice of watercolour or acrylic paint. (If you would like to bring water mixable oils to this retreat, please email Cheryl for details about that.) A list of recommended supplies is found here: Art Supplies

Other things to bring:

  • Bring  your own sheets and pillow. A sleeping bag works too, if you prefer. Blankets are available at the cottage. The cottage has both heat and air conditioning as may be required.
  • Bring your own towels, soaps, shampoos, etc.
  • Tea, coffee, and brita filtered water are provided. NOTE: If you want other types of cold or hot drinks feel free to bring them. If you enjoy wine, you may bring some. P.S. you are not expected to share wine - feel free to bring it for your own enjoyment.
  • Please bring one snack item to share (enough for 6 people). Examples: 6 pieces of fruit, or a bag of snack food - whatever you would enjoy to share. As mentioned, all meals are provided.

Note: this is not a beach front cottage; although there is beach access a short walk away. It is a narrow beach in this area. There is a more picturesque beach at Bayfield, a 10 minute drive away. Sorry, this cottage is not wheelchair accessible; there are stairs.
