Group of Seven and Beyond - ages 17 to Seniors welcome
Our Canadian Group of Seven have been an inspiration to many modern landscape artists. This course will examine techniques used by the Group of Seven, the emphasis being trees, skies and water, as well as how contemporary artists such as Robert Genn and Stephen Quiller have carried these even further.

|Length||10 Tuesday afternoons 1-3:30 p.m. or 10 Thursday evenings 6:30 to 9 p.m.|

|Media||Students may bring watercolour, fluid acrylic, or watermixable oils to this class, and Cheryl take turns demonstrating in each paint type. Click here for information about recommended supplies. No turpentine is allowed in class. Also plan to bring some landscape photo references of your own.|
|Level||Beginners and intermediate painters|
|Details||Special emphasis will be given to trees, skies, and water in landscapes. Also included in the course will be techniques for integrating collage items into a landscape. On odd numbered weeks we will work step by step through segments of famous landscape paintings by Group of Seven members and contemporary artists. On even weeks (week 2, 4, 6, 8, 10) students should bring their own landscape references and incorporate the techniques learned the previous week into their paintings. Students bring their own painting supplies.|

Beginning Painting for Adults - Landscapes - ages 17 to Seniors welcome
No art experience is necessary - absolute beginners welcome!

|Media||Students bring their own painting supplies: watercolour, acrylic, or water mixable oils - no turpentine is allowed in class. Click here for information about recommended supplies. Painting references will be supplied for the first 6 weeks. Plan to work about 10" x 12". (Quarter sheet in watercolour paper is fine.) Students bring their own landscape photos to work from for the last 2 weeks.|
|Level||Beginners and painters who would like to review the basics.|
|Details||Work step by step through some of Cheryl's paintings to learn about colour mixing, brush care and handling, basic composition, and other important painting topics as they apply to landscape paintings. No art experience necessary.|

Colour Hands On or Portraits - ages 17 to Seniors welcome
These 2 courses are being offered as private, semi-private, or group of 3 lessons. This is a wonderful opportunity to grow your art. These types of lessons will only be available at certain times during the year - don't miss the opportunity to study with a professional artist in their studio!
|Starts||Week of April 14 2015 - Full course is 10 weeks. Currently available times: Tuesday evenings, Wednesday evenings, Thursday afternoons. Check back on this page, as I will keep the available times updated, and may add more as these book full. Note: Private lessons may be booked for 5 weeks at a time, and therefore could start later if there is a time slot available.|
|Length||10 weeks, 1 hour per week. Exception: Private lessons may be booked for 5 weeks at a time.|

|Media||Portrait Course: the first 4 weeks are focused on drawing portraits and only drawing supplies are needed for those weeks. Week 5 introduces colour for skin tones. The last 5 weeks focus on painting portraits.
Colour Hands On: students bring their own photo references to work from - any subject except portraits. Also bring extra watercolour paper or canvas pad approx 8 inches by 11 inches for doing exercises.
