Brave Group
Do you know about the McMichael Gallery? It’s located north of Toronto in the small community of Kleinburg. They have a lot of original Group of Seven paintings – a really exciting collection to see. The grounds are beautiful too, lovely woods to walk in. At the end of this blog, I give you a link to the McMichael website. They give a nice short write up about each member of the Group of Seven, although not a lot of images. So I’m including a second link which is a Google Images page for Group of Seven. It will give you a good idea of what their art is like if you aren’t familiar. And if you are familiar with them, it’s fun to see so many of their paintings displayed together. Enjoy! Getting Unstuffed for Christmas
I read it somewhere else, but thought it was a great phrase. We all have too much stuff. Could we get unstuffed for Christmas this year?
I loved a daughter in law’s suggestion of goodies for the adults instead of gifts. We all make or buy a dozen of our favourite treats, then put them into bags for each adult and take home one of each.
Another thing I thought of, and this is embarrassing, but I have 2 extra coats in my closet that I haven’t worn in over a year. By golly, I need to get those off to the Goodwill Store!
What about taking people to a concert, theatre production, art gallery, or even a movie instead of buying them more stuff?
You’ve probably also heard of World Vision and their wonderful program of buying a goat or pig or chickens for a family living in poverty. What a great gift idea! Here’s a link to check this out…
I am quite sure I’ve barely scratched the surface of this concept. So now I’m turning it over to you. What ideas do you have for getting unstuffed for Christmas? I’ll be looking for your comments – right after I get back from Goodwill.
